Emerging Role of the Business Analyst
Application development software has only been around since the 1970s. Compared to other industries and occupations of the software industry is still very young. Because organizations have started using the computer to support their professional duties, have the people who create and maintain these “systems” has become increasingly sophisticated and specialized. This specialization is necessary because the computer systems become more complex, no one can know how to do it all.
One of the “specialties” that arises is the business analyst. Although some organizations have used this title in the non-IT areas of the company, this is an appropriate description for the role as a bridge between business and IT. The use of the word “business” is a constant reminder that all application software from the organization should improve its operations, reduce or increase revenues, costs, or increase customer service.
The story of the business analyst role
In the 1980s, when the life cycle of software development has been accepted as a necessary step for people to do this work in general from a technical environment and the IT organization have worked. They understand the software development process and often had programming experience. They used textual requirements with flowcharts, data flow diagrams ANSI, database diagrams and prototypes. The biggest complaint about software development is the length of time needed to create a system that does not always develop on the needs of businesses. Business people had become accustomed to sophisticated software and I wanted better and faster.
